1. In the operation of this CD-ROM you may encounter an error message
or a message that reads "execution suspended". In either case just click
on "Cancel". Occasionally you may be confronted with a message that
reads "Mtb 40". Unfortunately this is a system error. Please select the
Close button and shut down your computer and then restart it again.
We would be grateful if you contacted us at greatlakes@ec.gc.ca with
this information. If it is a repeatable error we will send you a
complimentary copy of the update. (Proof of purchase is required).
2. The CD-ROM contains montages of synchronized voice and images.
In testing this CD-ROM on various CD-ROM players we have found differences
in the rate that each player processes the information. You may find
that your machine plays these montages "out-of-sync".
3. At present the program is set up to run only the Netscape browser.
We plan to include capability to run other browsers in future updates.
4. The Information found in Discover the Great Lakes is organized around
the largest ecosystem (the Great Lakes St. Lawrence) with smaller systems
nested within. For the topics and issues covered there are many local
examples from all five Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River.
In addition the authors have chosen four regional ecosystems for a more detailed
treatment: Lake Superior, Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River and the
Canadian Carolinian Zone. To compensate for the lack of information on
Lakes Erie and Michigan you will find a list of websites for these two lakes.
Information on Lake Huron can be found in some of the Great Lakes
websites listed.
